I have this best friend from growing up, Cheri, that lives out of state and I was telling her how I've recently become obsessed with art and am trying to become a professional comic artist. So I gave her this website and she liked my stuff and wondered if I could draw a picture of how I remembered her when we were growing up, so here's what I did! It's a Christmas present to her (hope she doesn't check this site before she gets her gift, lol).
So anyway, I remember that she had huge, blonde hair and cute freckles and she always said sorry for no reason. Actually, I remember much more than that; we were best friends since we were in diapers and still hung out regularly until we were in our late teens. She was so extremely nice, and I remember I was such a brat to her. She really admired me and thought I was really pretty (I wish I could find a picture of me to prove I looked like a 30-year-old bus driver), and her family didn't have a ton of money when she was little. So she'd get hand-me-downs and thought I lived this fancy life. Now, she's married and has to cute little boys, and she's still just as cute and sweet as she was.
Throughout my life, I've surrounded myself with the kindest people I can find, because they remind me of her. And I still play the role of the bratty one (even to my husband).
The full view is the size it'll be in print, but you can see way more details when it's in print, so if you'd like to see a slightly bigger version, go here: [link]
And here's the lineart (I always feel like my lineart gets lost in my coloring): [link]
This does not mean you can color my lineart and display it or sell it.
Wow, the linart for this is beautiful, and I think you've done a better job with this piece than some of your previous ones at not making the line art either flat or too domineering. You say that sometimes you think it gets lost, but sometimes, it's super there. The facial expression is adorable, I love the slite squint she has to her eyes. As well as that, I've got to commend you on the hair and dress. Detail like that would have driven me up the walls, causing me to... well... go up the walls? I'm sure Cheri will like it
awesome lineart.
i love the way you do expressions... they look so real. also, great detail in the colouring. i love the way it makes the whole picture flow so well. great job!
Weeee, thanks! Yeah, I have a hard time trying to make the coloring somewhere in between too realistic and too simplistic (as in animated anime). So I'm glad you like it!
We want to know what love means to you!
